Karl loves: Martial Raysse

Until September 22nd 2014,

With over two hundred works – paintings sculptures, films, photographs and drawings, the Centre Pompidou is devoting a completely new retrospective to the work of Martial Raysse. This visionary artist, on the margin of dominant artistic trends, who has followed his unpredictable, singular path throughout nearly 50 years of creation. While Raysse (born in 1936) was inspired by Andy Warhol’s approach during the 1960s – leading him to incorporate neon lights and film into his paintings – he distanced himself from this work during his experimental ‘shamanic’ period, finding a sort of personal mythology during the 80s.
