The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is currently hosting an exhibition featuring Mattel’s famous Barbie — over 700 of them, to be exact.

On until September 18, 2016, the exhibit sheds light on Barbie’s evolution since her launch in 1959. From the first Barbie in a bathing suit to “fashion victim” Barbie in 2015, more than 55 years of fashion and American culture are represented by the plastic figurine. She has been a high school pupil, a university student, a nurse and an air hostess — in total more than 150 professions, from traditional to avant-garde.

Over 700 Barbie outfits are on display, including special pieces by designers including Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Louboutin and, of course, Karl Lagerfeld.

Barbie Lagerfeld is taking inspiration from the designer’s signature style. She’s dressed to the designer’s likeness with accents taken from real-life KARL LAGERFELD collections.
