KARL ACCORDING TO CARINE

The KARL ACCORDING TO CARINE collection has been designed in collaboration with Carine Roitfeld, the visionary editor and Style Advisor of the Maison KARL LAGERFELD. Featuring ready-to-wear and accessories, the capsule fuses KARL’s signature codes with Carine’s own aesthetic; designs embrace the essence of nonchalant Parisian elegance and effortless femininity.

Silhouettes were inspired by Carine’s own wardrobe essentials: tuxedo jackets, silky blouses, a sleek corset and timeless skirts. Statement outerwear includes a wool-blend coat with a degradé leopard print, a sporty down-filled puffer, and a faux fur coat in striking pink. Must-have accessories include the K/Ikon tote, which was inspired by Karl’s trademark high-collar shirt, plus leather biker boots, satin pumps and loafers for everyday versatility. The collection is rooted in shades of black with unexpected pops of bright fuchsia.

Carine and Karl were longtime friends and on the creative journey of this collaboration, they worked in tandem to merge their unique points of view and perspectives. “Before Karl passed, he asked me to make this capsule collection,” says Carine. “He saw the first ideas and he liked it, so I was blessed.”

Carine Roitfeld is one of fashion’s most prolific personalities — she is a storyteller, image inventor, avant-garde editor and visionary stylist. After a decade as the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, she went on to found her own namesake magazines, CR Fashion Book and CR Men, and began her own creative consulting agency called CR Studio.

Most recently, she has been appointed as Style Advisor of the maison KARL LAGERFELD; as a longtime friend of Karl, she understood his creative vision and is perfectly suited to bring his design aesthetic to life. KARL LAGERFELD X COVER STORY LAUNCHES IN INDIA

To celebrate the launch of the KARL LAGERFELD X Cover Story collaboration, a series of special events were held across India last week.

The program kicked off in Mumbai, here a private cocktail party was hosted by local influencer Roohi Jaikishan at her home. There was also a press day and catwalk fashion show, which was attended by actress Sonam Kapoor.

To celebrate Karl’s memory and legacy, a global community of his friends and family has come together to reinterpret his beloved design. Artists, actors, models, designers and Karl’s friends have each created a bespoke edition of his white shirt silhouette. Inspired by their own personal anecdotes and experiences, they have reimagined the shirts to artfully reflect their own cherished memories of Karl.

Seven of these designs — by Carine Roitfeld, Cara Delevingne, Tommy Hilfiger, Sébastien Jondeau, Diane Kruger, Kate Moss and Takashi Murakami — have each been replicated 77 times. Sold exclusively on KARL.COM and Farfetch.com, the shirts’ complete sales proceeds will be donated to the “Sauver la Vie” charity initiative for medical research at the Paris Descartes University, which Karl supported for many years. The number seven was Karl’s lucky number and, as no coincidence, represented many elements in his life: his bookshop and photo studio, 7L, are located at 7 rue de Lille in his favorite Parisian arrondissement, the 7th.
